For students that have not opted out of state standardized testing, this week has been scheduled to focus on assessments. Teachers are aware that students may be postponing school work until the continuation of our normal semester schedule (last week was the start of Week 11 of the semester, this week is scheduled for testing, and next week is Week 12 of the semester).
*Please be aware that OLA staff will not be available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings this week because we will be testing students.
For some students, their testing locations aren't testing this week, but next week. For students in this circumstance, use this week as Week 12 of the semester (but know teachers are testing in the mornings and not available), and use next week as your testing week (no work expected).
If students choose to use their non-testing week to catch-up or get ahead with their schoolwork, this is okay, but know that it is not expected.
Suggestions for successful testing:
- Get a good night's rest the evening before.
- Eat a healthy, well-balanced breakfast to ensure your blood sugar is stable during your testing sessions.
- Give your best effort, and don't stress about your scores if you've given your best effort.
- Remember that OLA uses test data to look for gaps in curriculum and improve our instruction; we do NOT use the data to make value judgments about our students.
- If you've opted out of testing, know that this will not harm your student or the school. It is your legal right to opt out of state standardized testing, and the staff of OLA support our families whether they choose to opt-in or out of testing.
Thank you to all OLA parents and students for your patience in meeting the state's assessment expectations.
