Dear Graduates and Families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through details concerning the Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2020.

CDE and the Colorado Department of Health released an updated version of the most recent Graduation Guidelines yesterday, May 5. Based on this information along with recommendations from Emily Brown, Director of Rio Grande County Public Health Department, and much time and thought from our school and staff, it has been determined that we will go with a graduation date of May 30, 2020.

Our graduation ceremony will be a semi-virtual one. We will have the physical ceremony at the Byron Syring DELTA Center Parking lot. Here is a general idea of how this will look.

  • 8:00-9:30 - Gown pick-up and Graduate picture (with social distancing guidelines in place) scheduled by last name in the HS parking lot.

  • 9:30-10:00 - Vehicles allowed into DELTA parking lot and directed to assigned spots.

    • Only one vehicle per senior will be allowed and graduates MUST remain in the vehicle with their family for the duration of the ceremony.

    • All participants will be required to wear a mask (each graduate will be provided a celebratory mask by the school).

  • 10:00 - Semi-Virtual graduation will begin with less than 10 designated School Board Members and Staff on stage.

  • Pre-recorded Student Speeches will be delivered electronically via email to be watched together at a designated time during the ceremony.

  •  Graduates will pick up their diploma from a designated location as they exit the parking lot.

Please reach out to Ms. Tish and let her know if you still plan on attending the graduation ceremony with the included guideline recommendations in place. If graduation guidelines change within the next three weeks, we will adjust our plans accordingly.
