Hi 7th & 8th Grade Students and Parents,

This year was the last year of the paper and pencil state assessment known as TCAP. Next year, all state assessments will be taken on computer. To transition to the new testing, 7th and 8th graders will take the new assessment this year in one content area (Social Studies for 7th grade and Science for 8th Grade).

For most students, I will be traveling with a mobile lab administering the test at different locations. The testing will be completed in one day. The actual testing time will vary – students will take three sessions. Each session will take a minimum of 55 minutes but can last up to 80 minutes if students need it.

Students should arrive at 8:15AM and bring a book to read between sessions.

Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the test format in advance by taking the brief EPAT practice tests. This will make the actual testing go more smoothly for you since you will have a better understanding of what the test format will be like and how to navigate within the test. Links to the practice tests can be found under “Helpful Links” on the left side of this page.
